JELF’s COO, Cathy Miller, recently hosted a webinar for all the students, families and educational professionals in the region. The presentation, delivered on November 15th from 7:30-8:30, was built to be a starting point to help families find all types of financial aid. The webinar covered a vast array of information. It started by letting everyone know about the huge jump in the costs of college over the last 10 years. From there, Cathy talked about how to fill out the FAFSA and apply for scholarships, grants, loans, work/study and JELF’s interest-free loans. Cathy used examples from her own life and from her 19-years working with JELF. The presentation also touched on issues students may be considering with COVID-19, such as the Cares Act and students taking a gap year. A question and answer session after the presentation then allowed attendees to ask about their own situations.
