General JELF Hosts Financial Aid Webinar for Jewish Families (11/16/20)

JELF’s COO, Cathy Miller, recently hosted an informative webinar for students, families, and educational professionals in the region. Held on November 15th from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., this engaging presentation served as an invaluable starting point for families seeking financial aid solutions.

Cathy’s webinar covered a comprehensive range of topics, beginning with an overview of the dramatic increase in college costs over the past decade. She then guided attendees through the process of filling out the FAFSA and applying for various forms of financial aid, including scholarships, grants, loans, work-study programs, and JELF’s own interest-free loans. Drawing from her personal experiences and her 19 years of expertise with JELF, Cathy provided practical insights and real-life examples.

The presentation also addressed contemporary challenges, such as the impact of COVID-19, including updates on the CARES Act and considerations for students contemplating a gap year. Following the presentation, a dedicated Q&A session allowed participants to seek personalized advice and discuss their unique financial aid situations.
