Vice President Dr. Marianne Daniels Garber

Marianne Daniels Garber, Ph. D. was introduced to JELF through her father-in-law, Al Garber, who was raised in the Hebrew Orphans’ Home and reaped the benefits of a college education because of the orphanage and the Atlanta community. Marianne has served as President of JELF twice, 2003-2005 and 2015-2017.

Marianne is an Educational Consultant at the Behavioral Institute of Atlanta where she specializes in the assessment of learning disorders and ADHD in children and adolescents and on parenting issues. She received her undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis and her doctorate in reading and psycholinguistics from Georgia State University. She has taught at the elementary, high school and college levels. Marianne co-authored with her husband Stephen Garber and Robyn Freedman Spizman a number of books including Good Behavior, If Your Child is Hyperactive, Beyond Ritalin and Monsters Under the Bed, as well as a number of educational publications for teachers and parents. She also co-authored the nationally syndicated parenting column called Good Behavior for 10 years, and appeared with Stephen as one-half of the Parenting Team on NBC-affiliate WXIA-TV for 12 years.

Marianne is very involved in the Atlanta Jewish community, including the Selection Committee of the Atlanta Jewish Film Festival, and AA Synagogue. Additionally, she has served as co-chair of the Tower of Talent for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Both natives of Atlanta, Marianne and her husband Stephen are the proud parents of four married children, and are grandparents to many adoring grandchildren!
