Through the JELF website, visitors can register for reminders, events, materials to be sent, complete online surveys, make a donation and provide us with feedback about the site. JELF collects the email address (where possible) of visitors to our website, the email addresses of those who communicate with us via email and of applicants and donors. We also collect aggregate information about what pages accessed or visited.

JELF respects the privacy of its donors. We believe in safeguarding personal information and ensuring that donor privacy is protected. We do not sell or share donor information. Your name, email address, and any other personal information you provide will be used only by JELF to keep you informed of our activities, including our programs, special events, and funding needs. Participation in SMS/text messaging is completely voluntary, and you may opt out at any time without affecting your ability to receive JELF updates through other communication methods.
Information Collected
Here are the types of donor information that we collect and maintain:
- Contact information: name, organization/company (if applicable), complete address, phone number(s), and email address.
- Payment information: credit card number and expiration date, and billing information needed to complete transactions. (We comply with PCI-Data Security Standards and do not retain credit card information of donors or any individuals providing payment for services to JELF.)
- Gift designation information by program, fund, or event: as provided by the donor at the time of the gift.
- Third Party Contact Information: complete mailing address of third parties honored by gifts made in tribute or acknowledgement of gifts made in memoriam by notice of the donor.
- Updates: requests to receive periodic updates via our online e-newsletters or through printed JELF or JELF programs’ publications and newsletters.
- Other Info: general feedback, comments, or questions.
Use of donor information is limited to the above and to the internal purposes of JELF for furthering the stated mission and programs of the agency. Specifically, we use donor information to help donors complete a secure donation transaction and to provide communication and updates on JELF programs. JELF will never sell, rent, trade, or share a person’s phone number with any third party for marketing, solicitation, or commercial purposes.
JELF will never use a phone number to send unsolicited text messages or robocalls, nor will we disclose it to unrelated organizations, advertisers, or political entities. JELF will not combine a phone number with other databases for profiling or tracking, and we will not permit outside contractors or partners to use donor phone numbers for their own purposes. Phone numbers collected by JELF are used exclusively for donation or event processing, and always in ways consistent with the donor’s preferences.
We occasionally publish donor names to recognize donor support. We always honor requests for donors who prefer to give anonymously, and safeguard preferences for anonymity as part of stored donor contact information.
JELF’s Commitment to Donor Privacy: Online and Offline
- JELF will not sell, rent, or lease your personal information to other organizations. This includes your email address, physical addresses, and phone numbers.
- On rare occasion, JELF may share a donor’s email address to partner organizations, but only upon the condition that the donor has given JELF specific permission to do so.
- Personal donor information is maintained in a database, and only authorized personnel have access to this information and only for appropriate business purposes.
- Credit card numbers submitted to process gifts or transactions are not retained by JELF.
